The shiny cover art in high-def. reveals boys wearing trousers and rolled up sleeves, a most intriguing choice.

It also has the Parthenon sitting on a Macedonian plain, but I'm getting used to it.

No idea about other off-shore releases. It would be nice, but we'll have to see how it works out. You can probably score a copy online, though.

and now you have a trilogy about Alexander the Great.
Well, I'm looking forward to read it. Although, I have read it already (well sort of) - I'm VERY interested to see what changes were made.
But I hate the cover picture. My biggest pet peeve in book covers (especially historical books - but most books in general) are covers with PICTURES OF REAL PEOPLE. I hate that. I hope the one in the states will be different.

But seriously, I'm unaware of any non-Antipodean releases at this stage. I imagine I would have to be phenomenally lucky to score a European release, but we can keep our fingers crossed.

Just, you would not believe how much I'm looking forward to this and to actually see the trilogy named... that's just bliss. I actually tried to pre-order it from Australia on-line and the bastards wouldn't let me! How do they know I live outside of "down under" without me ever getting to the payment page? I'll try again now they have the pretty art.
If necessary I have relatives who will do the purchase and shipping from yonder but explaining to them the urgency of my request might be err, embarrassing.

I love the titles - especially number 3 - shiver-inducing! And I really love the idea of Alexander's story being told from Hephaistion's POV. That is simply great news! I used to wonder why no one had done this yet. Imagine The Persian Boy time period being told from H's POV!

I like the cover art too. H looks very classically handsome! And charming! Someone who would look good in marble.

For now, my suggestion is that you click on the "buy the book" link and try one of the online stores that deliver outside of DownUnder. Failing that, wander into your local B&N or Borders (or equivalent thereof), give them the title, author name and ISBN, and see if they will order it for you from the database of books in print.

Thanks. I will try Booktopia or Shearer's (they are offering a tiny discount!) I've never ordered a book from outside the US, so this is going to be a new experience. I hope you don't mind that I posted the link to a yahoo group I belong to - I am sure people will be very interested in this book! Will you post the link in atgstories? Many people visit that site.

I was wondering: is the entire trilogy told from Hephaistion's POV or only The Lion's Cub? It wasn't clear from the description.

Don't want you getting the wrong idea re POV - this is not a 1st person narrative (blah blah 1st person ickycakes blah*). It is, however, Hephaistion-centric, though he is more protagonist than narrator.

And the trilogy was initially meant to be one book, but then I fed it after midnight and it split into three. So yes, the entire trilogy is Hephaistion's story as much as anything else.

*purely personal preference, feel free to ignore / disagree / give cake.

I have been fascinated with Hephaiston since getting into more classical studies (most be a person behind the power thing on my part;). So I love that the book will be "Hephaistion-centric" (squee)
